GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- One man is behind bars after reports of a drive-by shooting in Gulfport.

Thirty-four-year-old Joshua Golden of Gulfport was arrested and charged with one-count of drive-by shooting.

The arrest stems from an incident that occurred on December 16. Officers responded to a report of a drive-by shooting on Lorraine Road just north of Seaway Road.

During the investigation, it was determined that Golden positioned his vehicle in front of the victim’s vehicle and began driving erratically, repeatedly braking in front of the victim.

The victim passed Golden’s vehicle. Golden accelerated, passed the victim again, and continued brake checking. Both vehicles stopped at a stop light. According to police, Golden then brandished a gun.

Both cars continued northbound and then Golden shot the gun toward the victim’s vehicle. The bullet did not hit the vehicle and no injuries were reported.

Golden admitted to being involved in the incident and stated that ‘if’ he discharged the gun, it was in ‘self-defense.’

Golden was taken into custody and transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center. He remains there on a $250,000 bond.
