Man arrested for assaulting Biloxi police officer

In Biloxi, a man has been charged with assault on a police officer.

On Wednesday, Biloxi police arrested 53-year-old James Andrew Padgett of Pensacola, Florida on a charge of simple assault of a law enforcement officer after an assault complaint on a pedestrian near the 800 block of Bayview Avenue.

Police say Padgett assaulted the officer who was trying to put him in custody causing minor injuries.

He is being held on a 50,000 bond at the Harrison County Jail.
