‘Making Groceries Happen’ organization gives back to community

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- It was a festive weekend along the Coast, but one local organization focused on giving back this Easter weekend by battling food insecurities.

‘Making Groceries Happen’ is a local nonprofit organization that goes to grocery stores and gives back to those in need with an emphasis on the elderly.

With inflating prices, many are struggling to afford basic groceries and that is exactly what ‘Making Groceries Happen’ is trying to help with.

The organization formed online and receives all funding from its members as founder Richard Stewart started ‘Making Groceries Happen’ after an interaction he had a year ago.

If you would like to help battle food insecurity in your area, it is recommended you donate to your local food pantry.
