Making bath bombs from scratch

Bath bombs are growing in popularity nationwide as the fizzy bath time mixtures can relieve stress, soothe skin, and apparently teach you chemistry.
Today at West Wortham Elementary, students shut their books during science class and created their own bath bombs using a system called “Thinking Maps.” This process allows students to apply text book knowledge while learning to think critically and practice executing written instructions. West Wortham eighth grade science Teacher April Phelps said, “The thinking maps help them to break down the process in an order that allows their brain to really understand what’s going on as well as follow the instructions carefully. The thinking maps work well with bath bombs because there are so many steps that they have to take, there are so many ingredients that they need. So, we have fun everyday in my classroom, the bath bombs, they’re loving it.”
Bath bombs have been around for some time, but these combinations of scents and oils with baking soda and citric acid are more popular at bath time now than ever before.
