Make-A-Wish grants local kid a trip to Disney World

A special surprise awaited one student at Pecan Park Elementary School in Ocean Springs.

Jace Mathews was diagnosed with cancer in 2016 and underwent treatment which left him with an incomplete spinal cord injury, but Jace’s diagnosis has not held him back. He enjoys school, playing outdoors, and all things ‘superheroes’ and his one true wish was to go to Walt Disney World with his family.

So, the Make-A-Wish Foundation came together to make his wish come true by revealing to him at school with a large crowd that he would be going to Disney World.

Jace tells News 25 what he is looking forward to. “Going on the rides and going swimming and sleeping in, really excited. At first, I just felt like it was a regular day and I still love school as much as I love regular school.”

Jace also received a key to the city and a proclamation declaring it Jace Day.
