Make-A-Wish grants local boy’s wish

Hendrix Branning is a six-year-old boy who was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor. For his seventh birthday, Make-a-Wish is sending his family to Walt Disney World.

After spending a year going through chemotherapy and various treatments, Hendrix Branning is stepping out of a hospital and into Walt Disney World.

His family is beyond excited to see him up and walking down Main Street U.S.A. towards the castle. Amanda Branning said, “He’s going to be able to ride rides, swim. He can be Hendrix, and he can be the Hendrix that we knew before diagnoses. So, we’re very excited for this opportunity to be able to go.”

The tumor is in Hendrix’s brain stem, which effects his motor skills. After undergoing six rounds of chemo, 30 rounds of radiation, Hendrix is starting to feel more like himself which is why now is the perfect time for a family vacation. Justin Branning said, “He’s surpassed the baseline that they originally set, so it’s given us that much more hope. You know, for when we go next month in July for the next MRI. Really hoping and really praying for positive results – especially with how well he is doing now.”

This family has been taking life one moment at a time, soaking up as much of it as they can. “We’re just going to utilize and take advantage of any time we get the opportunity to do something.”

For Hendrix, he’s ready to make some memories.
