Make-A-Wish grants four-year-old Gulfport girl’s wish
Make-A-Wish is giving one four-year-old a massive present by sending her to Walt Disney World.
They say if you wish upon a star, your dreams come true! Alyvia Parker has conquered more than most adults and her one true wish is to be a princess.
Alyvia was born with hypoplastic right heart syndrome and tricuspid atresia, meaning her heart did not fully develop before birth.
She has undergone two open heart surgeries and is a single-ventricle patient.
Despite her challenges, Alyvia is resilient and just like any other kid who dreams of spinning with Disney princesses.
When Alyvia’s parents first heard her diagnosis, they were unsure if Alyvia would lead a normal life, let alone that Cinderella would come to tell Alyvia that she was going to Walt Disney World for her fourth birthday. “When they first told me that she had Tricuspid atresia. Obviously, I had no idea what that was. I didn’t even know how long she would live. I didn’t know if I would be able to hold a job full-time if we were going to be in and out of the hospitals. If I was going to be a stay-at-home mom, but here we are four years later going to Disney World. It really is a dream come true.”
Alyvia will always live with this condition, but a princess can take on anything.
Just a reminder that Make-A-Wish is not just for terminal illnesses. If you know a child with chronic illness, they could have their wish granted too. You can learn more at wish.org.
