M.G.C.C.C. to Hold Cheerleader & Mascot Tryouts

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to represent the Blue and Gold! Join the award-winning Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Bulldog cheerleading squad.

In order to become a Gulf Coast cheerleader or mascot, applicants must meet the following requirements:

•Completed application, release of liability form, photograph, plus three recommendation forms. Deadline for application is March 15th, 2015.

•A 2.5 high school or college grade point average (verification must be provided; form included in packet)

•Attendance at one of the Pre-Tryout Stunt Workshops scheduled for February 22nd, March 15th, and March 22nd, from 3 p.m -5 p.m. at the South Elite Cheer Gym in Wiggins. The cost is $5 per workshop. Minimum stunt requirements include walk-in Lib (all-girl), toss to hand extension (co-ed).

•Attendance at the closed tryouts on April 10th-11th. Judging begins at 1 p.m. on April 11th.

Cheerleader Candidates will be judged on cheerleading skills which includes motions, dance ability, technique, spirit, original chant and enthusiasm, overall presentation, attitude, and interview and workshop performance.

Mascot Candidates must perform and original two-minute skit and will be evaluated on the following: theme, originality, use of props, character/personality, impromptu ability, and overall crowd appeal The M.G.C.C.C. Bulldog Cheerleading Team carries 16 members and 1 alternate and is open to both men and women. All tryout requirements are the same for both men and women. Cheerleaders and mascot must maintain 15 hours and a 2.5 GPA while attending M.G.C.C.C. and must live on campus. Scholarships are available.
