Lynn Parkhill Memorial Scholarship Fund

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- There was a special reception Tuesday evening in Gulfport to celebrate a new scholarship for high school students, but also to remember the life of a man who left a lasting mark on the Coast.

At the Orange Grove Community Center, it was the inaugural presentation of the Lynn Parkhill Memorial Taco Sombrero Scholarship, named after the late Lynn Parkhill, who founded and operated the Taco Sombrero franchise for over 45 years.

The annual $500 scholarship will go towards one high school student going into culinary arts or business management at a junior college.

The Lynn Parkhill Scholarship Committee says it is their goal to raise the scholarship beyond $500 and hopefully be able to give it out multiple times a year.
