Lynn Meadows Receives National Medal

First Lady Michelle Obama recognized ten outstanding museums and libraries from across the country today and one of them is right here in South Mississippi.
Lynn Meadows Discovery Center in Gulfport was one of the ten museums and libraries recognized for their service to the community. Museum Director Cindy DeFrances was in Washington, D.C. to accept the award, along with 17-year-old Brandon Spann who credits Lynn Meadows and their Wings program with giving him the confidence to pursue his dreams of a musical theater career.
Sonja Gillis with the Lynn Meadows Discovery Center said, “We feel like we’re providing a place for children, families and the community to come together. We provide learning, just lifelong learning for everyone. We’re just very, very excited. The past few months have just been really exciting for us and we’re just proud to be representing Gulfport and the state of Mississippi.”
Lynn Meadows Discovery Center is looking forward to thanking the community for all of the support at a celebration coming up on June 16th with free admission from 4 to 7.
