Lynn Meadows opens new sensory space exhibit
Lynn Meadows Discovery Center has opened up a brand-new exhibit that has already been a hit with the kids.
The sensory space exhibit was inspired by Alex Hudson, a long-time volunteer at the museum. She pitched the idea at a meeting to give the children a safe, quiet space to relax in the museum.
The exhibit is lit with a blue light and is filled with sensory objects such as bubble tubes, sand shakers, lava mats, and more to keep the kids engaged.
With the exciting and wild atmosphere, Director Heather Johnson says it is a perfect place for kids to take a break. “So that was one of Alex’s things that she said. She said a lot of times kids here get overwhelmed, overstimulated, there’s a lot going on. So, to have a place where they can just kind of tuck away and hide out and get a moment of peace and calm is special and important. I mean we are all obsessed I think everyone here wants to kind of go live in there. So, you know it’s pretty great.”
The museum is open seven days a week, Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
