Lynn Meadows ‘Countdown to Noon’

Lynn Meadows Discovery Center in Gulfport will be counting down to noon on Monday to celebrate the New Year.

This countdown will have lots going on like a DJ with music, noise maker crafts, dancing, snacks, and karaoke.

Lynn Meadows says they put this event on every year to give kids on the Coast a place to ring in the New Year. In past years, children have really gotten into the spirit and some even come in New Year costumes.

The New Year’s Eve ball and hundreds of balloons will drop at noon, but doors will open at 10 a.m. Families are encouraged to get there early because organizers say it is usually a packed house.  Lynn Meadows Development Director Penny Patterson said, “It’s just a great event for children and families to be able to spend some time together to ring in the year and to do something special together. New Year’s Eve is usually an adult event so this is annual. We do it every year. It’s very exciting. There is a lot going on because of the build-up of the ball drop at noon.”

The cost of this New Year’s Celebration will be included in the $10 admission into the museum.
