Lyman Elementary School honors veterans at Veterans Day Ceremony

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- Lyman Elementary School honored our nations heroes this Veterans Day with a special breakfast.

Over 100 local veterans from every branch of the U.S. Armed Forces attended the event Tuesday morning.

Community members gathered with students, staff, and veterans to show their gratitude for the men and women who bravely serve our country.

The program also featured patriotic music, student performances, poetry and heartfelt letters of appreciation.

Organizers and veterans at the program say the event helps students understand the true meaning of service, sacrifice and freedom.
