Lucedale Police investigating Tuesday night shooting at Walmart
Lucedale Police are investigating a shooting at Walmart on Tuesday night that left two injured.
Chief Kellum Fairley said an argument began in the store parking lot about 9:38 p.m. between three black males.
Two of the men — one wearing a hoodie, turned away and walked toward the store entrance, but turned around at the doors and started back toward the third man, who also was approaching the store entrance.
At that point, Fairley said, the suspect wearing a hoodie pulled a gun and fired four shots — likely striking the third man. The first two suspects then fled to a vehicle and drove away.
The third man, apparently bleeding, ran into the store and escaped capture.
A young woman with a small child were walking into the store when the shooting began. The woman was struck in the foot by a ricocheting bullet. She was treated.
Names of the three men have not been released but at least two have been identified by clear store video camera footage, Fairley said.
One of these men was arrested this afternoon and the other was brought in for questioning.
