Lucedale man charged in domestic assault, kidnapping case
A Lucedale man has been charged with felony kidnapping and other charges after a fight with his girlfriend took a dangerous turn.
George County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call for help to a home on Ed Evans Road in the Basin community about 6:30 a.m. Sunday.
When they arrived, deputies found a female showing signs of physical injury. She told deputies she had been in a fight with her boyfriend during the night and that he had hurt her and prevented her from leaving the home or calling 911.
When the boyfriend returned to the home later that day, he was arrested.
Kevin Michael Sykes, 31, is charged with felony kidnapping and misdemeanors of domestic simple assault and malicious mischief, as well as a contempt of court charge from justice court.
Sykes was given a $20,000 bond on the kidnapping charge and $1,000 each on the misdemeanors and the contempt charge. At the time of the incident, Sykes was on bond in another jurisdiction for a separate assault charge.
