Lucedale man back in custody after allegedly injuring deputy

A Lucedale man is back behind bars after allegedly injuring a deputy during an early morning chase on Sunday, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.

Terry Alan Erwin was on bond for failing to register as a sex offender. Sheriff Mike Ezell says Erwin was suspected of using counterfeit cash at a convenience store on Highway 63.

When the deputy got to the store, Erwin was asked to get out of his car and that’s when he took off, running over the deputy’s foot.

News 25 was told Erwin wrecked his car on Big Point Road Reservoir Bridge and then jumped into the water, but was eventually caught.

His bond is set at $200,000, but the department says he won’t make it because the judge revoked his bond on sex offender charges.
