Lucedale City Park receiving major upgrades

The Lucedale City Park is set to receive some major upgrades.

The park will have a new look with over $1.2 million in improvements by year-end.

Lucedale has raised more than $130,000 so far from the community as well.

The park also received a grant for a permanent stage setup and new playground equipment.

Most of that money is coming from grants and donations, with less than 25% of it coming from local taxpayers.

According to Alderman Al Jones, the playground and stage will be finished by the start of 2025.

“We’re excited about what is going to be because we very unique on the three levels because it’s on the hill side different age groups and be ADA assessable,” said Alderman Jones. “One end of the park you got the playground. The end of the park you got the stage which is going to be a tremendous asset to our city as we’re, we’re growing this is a growing area.”

The local Kiwanis Club will be sponsoring the toddler area of the park and is hosting a $2000 drawdown event to raise funds.

That is taking place April 27th.

Lucedale is also taking donations for the park project.
