LSU punches ticket to Omaha

No team in the history of SEC baseball has been to the College World Series more times than LSU. Mississippi State did nothing to alter that course of history last night, as the Tigers are heading back to Omaha for the second time in three years.
But the Bulldogs didn’t go away quietly, overcoming a 3-0 lead with four runs in the bottom of the third. The Purple and Gold answered back with six runs of their own in the fifth before running away with a 14-4 victory and their 18th trip to the College World Series.
A couple weather delays couldn’t rain on LSU’s parade back to Omaha, especially for Kramer Robertson, goggles and all. “Not like I haven’t waited long enough for this moment, we had to have a rain delay. So I’ve waited my entire baseball career, my entire life to experience that dog pile and win a super regional. So I could wait through a couple rain delays, wait a little bit longer.”
Mississippi State Head Baseball Coach Andy Cannizaro said, “We did everything possible, man. You could see the number of guys we threw today, I mean it was all hands on deck. Our guys had an unbelievable ability to fight, never give up. Just continued to persevere over so much and so many things that went against us this season.”
The Bulldogs wrap up 2017 with an overall record of 40-27. Meanwhile, the Tigers draw a first round match-up against Florida State in the College World Series.
