LSU College World Series Preview

On the eve of the 2017 College World Series, there’s a fine line between work and play. The distractions of trying to soak in the experience are greater than ever before and yet so is LSU’s desire to win. The Tigers are less than 24 hours away from taking on Florida State to start their run through the eight-team field in Omaha. The purple and gold come in having won 16 games in a row and 21 out of their last 23. Needless to say, blocking out the noise hasn’t been a problem for LSU in recent weeks but this isn’t Baton Rouge or the SEC tournament.

LSU head baseball coach, Paul Mainieri, said, “It’s a lot more fun to win than not to win when you come to this place. I’ve brought teams here that have won the tournament, I’ve brought teams here that have not made the finals and I’ve brought one team here that went 0-2 and that wasn’t any fun at all. So, you just have to be able to compartmentalize things. When we’re having fun, we have fun. We can focus on that. But when it’s time to get serious and get ready to play ball against one of the best teams in the country, whoever our opponent is, you have to be able to do that as well.”

The Tigers and Seminoles will play ball starting with game 1 at 7 p.m. Saturday from TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha.
