Lower gas prices increasing holiday travel

A welcome surprise awaits travelers as gas prices have hit their lowest point of the year.

The drop in gas prices could result in an increase in travel, providing extra incentives for families and friends to hit the road and enjoy the festivities without breaking the bank.

Local businesses are destined to benefit from the increased traffic.

More than 43 million people are planning to travel this July 4th weekend. Coastal Mississippi CEO Judy Young says lower gas prices means more visitors to the Coast. “For this season, the gas prices are a $1.30 lower on average than last season for 4th of July. So, we’re expecting at a minimum ten percent bump in visitation, probably much more than that.”
