Lower Electricity Rates for Mississippi Power Customers
After a decision today by the state’s Public Service Commission, Mississippi Power customers are set to receive lower bills in February. Regulators say they plan to take another look at natural gas costs to see if bills should decrease even more.
At this morning’s meeting, the Public Service Commission voted to approve lower fuel costs for both the Mississippi Power Company and Entergy Mississippi. Mississippi Power will collect about $117 million less for fuel costs. According to a press release from Mississippi Power, the company’s fuel filing that was approved today will save customers an average of $13.70 a month.
Meantime, both utility companies are required to re-submit natural gas projections this month so that staffers can examine whether decreasing gas prices mean rates should fall further.
