Loved ones mourn the loss of community activist Camille Tate
Loved ones are mourning the loss of a community leader in Hancock County.
Eighty-five-year-old Camille Tate served as a board member for CASA of Hancock County, Coastal Family Health Center, Hancock Historical Society, Hancock County Exchange Club, and Bay St. Louis Planning and Zoning Commission.
Tate died April 16th after a brief illness, according to her obituary.
Cynthia Chauvin, executive director of CASA, says Tate will be greatly missed by all who knew her. “I think her strong will. The things she cared about which were kids and animals and human rights and treating people with dignity. I think those are the things that leave a hole for us. Everybody around town knew her and appreciated her even if they butted heads with her, she was a true advocate every day she lived.”
A memorial will be held in the near future. In place of flowers, loved ones are asking donations be made to the animal shelter in Bay St. Louis or to your favorite charity.
