Our Love Affair with Baseball

The manager of the New Britain Bees says Biloxi is the perfect community for baseball to flourish.
Manager Stan Cliburn was the guest speaker at the “Our Love Affair with Baseball” luncheon in Biloxi. Cliburn was the former manager of Triple A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, the Rochester Red Wings. He also spent a season playing for the California Angels.
Cliburn talked about the ups and downs in his 45 year baseball career. He tells News 25 it’s great to see baseball making an impact in our community. “Just great for our kids and great for our youth to have future Major League stars that are coming through here. To say one day, five years from now, I remember seeing that guy play for Biloxi, now he’s playing in the big leagues for the Milwaukee Brewers or whatever affiliated team he’s with.”
Next week is the final baseball luncheon at the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art in Biloxi. WXXV is a proud sponsor of the luncheon. The series started back in May.
