Louisiana man arrested in Bay St. Louis for simple assault on law enforcement officers, other charges

A Louisiana man was arrested in Bay St. Louis on multiple charges, including simple assault on a law enforcement officer.

Forty-five-year-old Johnnie Viola III was arrested by Bay St. Louis PD and charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, public intoxication, and simple assault on a law enforcement officer.

Officers responded to a parking lot area near Main Street in reference to a domestic disturbance. Upon arriving to the scene, officers determined Viola to be part of the disturbance.

While investigating, officers attempted to arrest the man for public intoxication and disorderly conducted which he resisted. During the arrest, Viola bit one of the officers which caused injuries requiring medical treatment at a local hospital.

Viola is being held at the Hancock County Jail with no bond for each charge.
