Louisiana artist shares seashell art at Biloxi Seafood Festival
Attendees enjoyed seafood and live entertainment at the 41st annual Biloxi Seafood Festival.
The festival provides a chance for vendors to showcase their arts and crafts locally and out of state.
Louisiana native Elaine Hertleim comes to the Seafood Festival every year to display her seashell work. She’s a retired painter who found a way to create art out of her love for seashells.
Ninety percent of her shells come from Florida or Gulf Coast beaches. She creates hanging décor, jewelry boxes, mirrors, and more.
Hertleim tells News 25 the thought of her work placed somewhere on display in Mississippi brings her gratification. “It’s the most fulfilling thing imaginable. They like my art and any artist, that’s what they crave. I like introducing people to different shells and giving them an appreciation of what normally they walk over.”
She plans to sell her art again next year at the Seafood Festival. You can also be on the lookout for her at other art festivals on the Coast.
