Lost Mountain Bikers Found in Saucier

Tonight in the Desoto National Forest a scary situation ends on a happy note.
Earlier this afternoon a mother and her children were out at the Bethel Mountain Bike Trail. The children accidentally wondered away from the trail and became lost. Their mother was able to locate them, but as night fell she was unsure that they would be able to make their way back to their vehicle so she contacted 9-1-1.
Authorities were able to communicate with her via cellphone and pinpoint the family’s location which allowed responders to make a quick, successful rescue. Harrison County Fire Chief Pat Sullivan said, “We did locate her safe on one of the trails and she was just waiting for our arrival. Everybody was safe. Nobody was hurt and they did the correct thing by not wandering and becoming injured or having a bigger problem.’
Chief Sullivan tells News 25 that the teamwork between the multiple agencies involved in this search and rescue operation should be credited for the successful recovery of those lost bikers.
