Lorraine Road Bridge Opens
After a year of detours and frustrated drivers, The Lorraine Road Bridge is finally open. Over 3,000 feet long the two lane bridge connects the city of Biloxi and Gulfport. Both mayors christened the bridge alongside Harrison County Supervisor Connie Rocko who helped spear head the early opening. The officials threw in a wreath with both city colors wrapped around into the water underneath the bridge. Welcoming commuters on the new and improved path worth over 7 million dollars. The county was the lead and we’re so excited that this is happening after 13 years, some of the people are brand new elected by they’re going to enjoy all of this traffic being moved from one city to the other quickly. Owner of orangutans bar in Gulfport tells News 25 he is thrilled to see the bridge open. Business has been down 80 percent since construction began.
