Long-Time Commissioner Retires

Over a decade of service to the commission on marine resources, but now Shelby Drummond is throwing in the towel for retirement. Drummond joined the CMR back in 2004 after retiring from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Many bid farewell to the respected member of the commission during this morning’s monthly meeting. He tells News 25 he reeled in great memories serving on the board but also went through sad times. Referring to one of the most destructive natural disasters the coast experienced. Katrina came along and it devastated our lovely Gulf Coast of Mississippi, it also devastated our infrastructure and our fishing industry, both sport and commercial fishing. Although Drummond tells news he is sad about his last meeting, he plans to spend most of his retirement of course fishing.
