Long Beach Schools Score An A Grade

Today the Long Beach school district celebrated an achievement with a visit from the state superintendent.
In front of students, teachers and members of the community. The Mississippi Superintendent of Education awarded the Long Beach School system for being a “grade a” district.
The ceremony was held at Harper Mc Caughan Elementary School in Long Beach.
The choir from long beach high school sang and elementary students led the pledge of allegiance.
State Superintendent Carey Wright tells News 25 the community sets a foundation for a school system to succeed.

“The power of a community just cannot be understated, it has a legacy of that level of support and I think that just speaks volumes around it’s overall progress, they’ve always performed at a high level, but its also parents and community that are setting high expectations for their children and their children are the beneficiaries of all that.”

The Long Beach, Biloxi and Ocean Springs School Districts are part of the 15 districts in the state to be awarded.
The grade is a combination of advanced placement, graduation rate and other academic achievements.
