Long Beach schools come together to help Ida victims

The Long Beach School District decided to get together to provide help for Louisiana victims of Hurricane Ida.

The district decided that they needed to do something for those directly hit by the storm. They got in contact with two schools in the LaFourche Parish School District in Louisiana that were impacted by Ida.

All five Long Beach schools in the district then got together to collect supplies for the storm-struck parish.

As of today, the district has been able to fill two-thirds of a 30-foot trailer with goods. Communications Director of the District Leigh Anne Meador said, “It’s amazing. Long Beach is an incredibly giving community. Our Bearcat school system, I can’t tell you how many charity events these kids and teachers and staff do. It’s amazing.”

The district will be taking donations tomorrow at any of the school offices in Long Beach before noon.
