Long Beach School District celebrates top district ranking

LONG BEACH, Miss. (WXXV)- The Long Beach School District was recently named Mississippi’s top ranked school district and the community is doing their park to celebrate.

Thursday morning, volunteers gathered at Coastal Daiquiri to cook and deliver more than 5,000 hamburger meals for every district employee.

Grilling started at 9:30 and once that was finished, the Long Beach Excellence in Education Foundation headed out to deliver these meals to each school and department employee across the district.

Long Beach leaders say it is a heartfelt gesture of gratitude from the community for the hard work and dedication of the district’s staff. Long Beach Alderman At-Large Donald Frazier said, “I don’t want to say it is a thankless job, but I do understand that it is these teachers and administration they give every day to our children which is our future. And we just want to turn around and show them our gratitude as a city for what they do. It’s not much. It’s a lunch, but it’s from the heart and this is why we’re doing. It’s a room full of people who have donated their time and materials.”
