Long Beach residents hold prayer session for future of oak tree
Long Beach residents gathered at the large oak tree on Fourth Street and Jeff Davis Avenue earlier tonight for a prayer.
The residents found out a couple of months ago that developers want to tear the tree down to build a hotel in the spot.
They prayed for tomorrow’s meeting where they are hoping to hear good news relating to the potential hotel and the tree.
Several of the residents gathered near the tree where one woman read a self-written prayer, praying for the tree and its future.
The participants say this was a way to bring good spirits as well as bring more awareness to the issue. Long Beach resident and prayer reader Cherie Ramsey said, “I know that there is a lot of division right now over this issue. I felt led by the spirit to do a prayer to try to bring unity to our City of Long Beach and I just felt called to do this.”
