Long Beach Police K9 Jack receiving donation of body armor

K9 Jack in Long Beach is getting some new threads.

Long Beach Police Department’s K9 will receive a bullet and stab protective vest.

Jack was welcomed to the Long Beach force in October 2021, after going through certification training with handler and Officer Eddie Gossett.

Getting the vest was made possible through a nonprofit organization called Vested Interest in K9s Incorporated.

The organization’s mission is to provide these vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and other agencies in the U.S.

Jack’s Vest is sponsored by Keith and Marilyn Farris of Gulfport. Long Beach Police Captain Patrick Craig said, “K9 officers are very important to the work we do. Their safety is extremely vital to us. So, we’re very thankful for this charitable donation of a ballistic and stab proof vest for K9 Jack.”

K9 Jack’s vest should be delivered in the next eight to 10 weeks.
