Long Beach PD warns of scammer pretending to be from the church requesting donations

LONG BEACH, Miss. (WXXV)- In Long Beach, police are warning against another scam going around.

This time, the scammer is impersonating a pastor or priest, requesting donations of gift cards for a family in need.

The police say residents are being contacted through text or by email.

Long Beach police say to confirm with your church before responding to a message.
