Long Beach Packing Party for Flood Victims

A local woman says she wants to help the flood victims in Louisiana because she remembers the horrible conditions the Coast was in after Hurricane Katrina.
The Mariners Apartment in Long Beach hosted a packing party for families affected by the floods. Apartment residents and members of the community donated items and the Greater Gulf Coast and Mississippi Apartment Association, along with the Hatching Hope Organization, collected and organized the items.
GGCAA President Catherine Blandino tells News 25 she decided to help out after her Louisiana apartment property ended up under water. “So, I see the pictures and it just breaks my heart to know that they’re having to deal with what we dealt with in Katrina. I was here during Katrina at the beach at a property here and overnight we lost 120 apartments that we had to get cleaned up or had holes in their roofs or had flooding.”
The organizations are still accepting donations and have a list of drop off locations around the Coast on the Greater Gulf Coast Apartment Association Facebook page.
