Long Beach Neighbors Looking for Answers

The man found dead yesterday inside a garbage container in his backyard has been identified as 87-year-old Edward Miller of Long Beach.
Sixty-three year-old Christy Lee Zarrella, who neighbors say was the man’s girlfriend, was arrested and charged with tampering with physical evidence and failure to report the death.
Police had come to the house to follow a missing person’s lead. They found his body in the garbage container after smelling a foul odor while at his house.
After watching yesterday’s events unfold, neighbors tell News 25 that they simply what to know what happened. Neighbor Michael Guy said, “What we saw was yellow tape. Nobody in the neighborhood actually heard a siren or a sound, any noise. So the neighborhood just kind of came out and congregated. So you know there are 10 police cars and five news vans and nobody heard a sound. Pretty shocking, it’s a quiet neighborhood. A lot of elderly, especially for the victim. He was a quiet guy, didn’t say much. Usually when you saw him, he was walking his dog and minding his business. I’d kind of like to know what happened. If there were outside parties involved. Hopefully, they get to the bottom of it.”
Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove tells News 25 there is an autopsy being performed on Miller but there is no timetable on when a cause of death will be determined.
