Long Beach mayor decides not to seek a third term

Long Beach Mayor George Bass told residents on Tuesday that he will not seek a third term in office.
Bass said he made a spur-of-the-moment decision to make the announcement while speaking to constituents at the Breakfast With the Mayor event Tuesday at USM Gulf Park.
“God gave me the answer and I decided at that very moment,” Bass said.
“I had 20 to 25 pages of projects we had accomplished since I took office in 2017. And we have a few more to finish.”
Bass said he’s not out and will do something in public service when his term is up.
