Long Beach homeowners go all out for Halloween
There’s another scary house in town! Joey and Jan DeWitt’s house in Long Beach is known as the place to visit on Halloween.
What makes their house unique is that most of their decorations are homemade and inspired by their favorite horror films.
Joey DeWitt, who is the mastermind behind all things scary and animated, works in construction and loves building things as a hobby, especially when it comes to creating new projects for the month of October.
Some decorations are back from when they started in 2009 and every year new decorations are added to one of their three cemeteries since they get positive feedback from the community. Jan DeWitt said, “They are just in awe. They just tell us ‘Oh gosh, your house is so cool. It’s so amazing.’ They talk about the details in it and everything. You don’t see many inflatables or store brought. A lot of it is time, love, and caring about what he likes to do with it.”
Anyone brave enough is welcome to visit their house on Pineville Road. For Halloween, the couple likes to dress up and role play for their trick-or-treaters.
