LONG BEACH HIGH SCHOOL PLANS
The Long Beach school board approved a 20 million dollar bond issue, that if passed by Long Beach residents will go toward building a new long beach high school, as well as adding security upgrades to other schools.
The Long Beach school district board of trustees voted to approve a $20 million dollar bond election to be held on August second.
These dollars, if approved by 60 percent of Long Beach citizens, will be directed toward a blend of new construction with the renovation of some existing structures to create a state of the art high school with a strong focus on safety and security for students.
Long Beach high school Senior, Kade Dixon says “overall it was a really good school I really did enjoy it, the teachers are great, I got a really good education there, but one big issue is the doors, there’s a lot of them and a lot of them are not guarded they’re not locked, you can just walk in and out, its easy for students to skip walk out or walk in, so that one thing we noticed definitely.”
Currently, the high school has approximately 50 entry and exit points throughout the campus.
The new facility proposed reduces the entry and exits points to four.
