Long Beach high school girls bowling captures 3rd consecutive state championship
What do you call getting three strikes in a row in bowling?
A turkey.
What do you call winning three bowling state championships in a row?
A dynasty.
Not a lot of people get to call themselves state champions – let alone back-to-back-to-back state champs. But for the Long Beach girls bowling team, winning the whole thing has become somewhat of an expected tradition. After recently winning their third state title in as many years, WXXV sports director Jevan McCoskey had the chance to speak to the seniors on the team.
Madalyn Badeaux and Lilly Sprinkle spoke on why, yes it’s cool to win a state championship, but doing it with the group of girls on their team makes it that much more special.
“In the last frames, in the last things, I was just thinking I am going to have fun because it is the last time I can have fun with these people doing what I love,” said Badeaux. “That in itself, and doing t for those people and for myself, made it so perfect and that is how everything came together.”
“The people that are on my team that I am always around – just being able to be on the same team as them has really been a blessing,” said Sprinkle. “They are just amazing people and I am so glad that i could spend my last summer with them because they have had my back 24/7 and I couldn’t ask for anyone else to be there for me.”
