Long Beach firefighters battle house fire in Green Acres subdivision
Long Beach Fire Department was called out to a house fire on Alyce Place in the Green Acres subdivision on Thursday night.
Chief Griff Skellie said a family of five were able to get out of the house. A family member on social media said a neighbor alerted the family of the fire, enabling them to evacuate safely.
Firefighters were called about 9:30 p.m. and Skellie said three companies were called out and they also got help from Pass Christian Fire Department.
The fire was contained in about an hour and was confined to the attic, where it started. Skellie said the cause is under investigation.
The family said on social media that they initially could not find their cat, but firefighters were able to find the animal and return it to the family.
