Long Beach firefighter rescues osprey from speaker

LONG BEACH, Miss. (WXXV)- The Long Beach Fire Department performed a rescue, but not one you might expect.

Firefighter Brian Sumrall responded to an osprey needing help at the Long Beach High School stadium today.

This osprey had its talons caught in a speaker’s grill plate.

Fire officials climbed the ladder and brought the osprey back to the ground.

The osprey only received minor injuries and is now in rehabilitation care.
