Long Beach Fire Department receives fire rating 4
LONG BEACH, Miss. (WXXV)- A big announcement on Tuesday out of Long Beach for the city’s fire department, which has just achieved a new fire rating.
The news came at the Long Beach City Council meeting as Fire Chief Griff Skellie announced the department had been recognized with a fire rating 4, which is based on the department’s operational abilities.
The new rating means around a five percent decrease in what Long Beach residents pay on their fire insurance premiums and an eight percent decrease in commercial insurance premiums.
For Chief Skellie, he says achieving this new rating was a station wide effort and that every detail matters when it comes to the evaluation process.
Chief Skellie says they now have plans to build a training facility next to the fire station, which will improve their chances of achieving a fire rating 3.
