Long Beach churches collect relief items for Hurricane Ida victims

Two Long Beach churches partnered together to bring relief to Hurricane Ida victims in Louisiana.

The Long Beach Society of St. Vincent De Paul and St. Thomas Church came together to collect donations after the devastation that occurred in Larose, Louisiana from Ida.

The churches collected water, cleaning supplies, paper products, and non-perishable food items.

An 18-wheeler full of goods was filled before today’s donation deadline of 5 p.m. Biloxi Council Society of St. Vincent De Paul President Susan Taylor said, “We’d just like to thank everybody along the Gulf Coast because there are so many generous people here and without their involvement and their willingness to assist, this would never happen. The efforts of the conference members here at St. Thomas to assist in getting all of that staged and into the truck, I mean, it had been an awful lot of work, but it’s done with an awful lot of love.”

In addition to a semi-truck full of donations, another truck load of goods will also be sent to Louisiana to help.
