Long Beach Board of Aldermen make changes to meeting format

Changes are coming to future meetings of the Long Beach Board of Aldermen.

The board voted to open a portion of each meeting for public comment. Twenty minutes will now be allotted for citizens to speak, with each person having a total of two minutes to speak about matters they wish to bring to the board.

Ward 3 Alderman Angie Johnson says the board has received many comments from citizens to add a public comment section.

In a statement, Johnson said, “The purpose of the public comment section is to receive input from our community. Some comments can be critical or complimentary, but they can bring about new or improved ideas. As alderman it is my job to listen and bring forth these ideas.”
