Long Beach animal shelter needs supplies for rescued cats

Somewhere around 50 animals, some of them pregnant, were taken from an RV in Moss Point in an apparent animal hoarding case.

Vanessa Cruz from Pet’s Sake Rescue in Long Beach spear-headed the removal of 34 adult cats, six kittens, and two dogs from the abandoned RV.

The number of animals without a home is expected to increase as more of the adult cats give birth.

Local scout troops are now pitching in with a supply drive for the overload of animals.

Pet’s Sake and Scout Troop 212 in Biloxi are putting out the call for monetary donations and donations of supplies like food, blankets, and kennels. Scout Troop 212 Senior Patrol Leader McKenzie Lasister said, “We’ve called the other troops and they like to help out with stuff that we do. We help them out with what they want to do sometimes, also. We’re asking the community to help support the supply drive for this rescue.”

Those interested in donating money can do so at forpetssakerescue.org. Supplies can be dropped off at the Coffee Box, Sister Swank, and Huff-N-Puff in Long Beach as well as with Troop 212 in Biloxi, Troop 316 in Pass Christian, and Troop 210 in Diamondhead.
