Locals in Severe Weather
While most locals have been taking cover during the severe weather, others were checking out the storm up close.
Earlier today on the Gulfport beaches, some people got an up close sight of the heavy winds and rough waves. One Missouri couple stopped to see the severe weather on their way to Florida. They tell News 25 they had no idea about the possible tornadic action in the area until family members began texting them, asking if they were okay. St. Louis, Missouri resident Rich Gliedt said, “We came through Hattiesburg, we came through a real bad storm. It was almost like driving in a cloud where everything got real dark, real fast. It was nasty and you couldn’t see a few feet in front of you. We had slowed down to about 30 miles an hour and felt pretty fortunate to go that fast.”
Gliedt tells News 25 he plans to continue his drive to Florida despite the adverse weather.
