Local Trainer Plans to Open Gym/Dance Studio in Gulfport

A new gym and dance studio will soon be opening in Gulfport. After the Gulfport P.A.L. center closed in Gaston Point, Rickey Toles knew he needed to give the community a safe space to exercise and learn.

Toles is now in the process of opening Game Changer, a small, private gym on 20th Avenue in Gulfport. Half of the space will be for training clients, and the other half will be a teen dance hall for a local dance troupe. Toles has big aspirations for his gym and hopes to offer a variety of programs for both youth and adults in the community.

Toles says, “We have a teenage young ladies dance team. This is their studio, as well as the gym. We’re trying to get youth sports together. We’re working on football, that’s a big thing. With Easter, we’re going to do a big Easter egg hunt. We’re going to do a big kickball game for women and kids. We’re just trying to bring the community together, and by bringing the community together, we’re empowering people.”

While they are still in the construction phase, Toles plans to open the gym March 7th. He is also running a Biggest Loser challenge starting in March. The winners will receive a cruise out of New Orleans and various beauty packages.
