Local teenagers use their own boats to help Vancleave flood victims

On Saturday the Sugar Sands Campground in Gulfport was engulfed in water from Friday night’s storms. Flooding forced residents to leave their RV’s as well as all of their belonging behind. That’s when three local teenagers decided to step in and help.

Avery, only 18 years old, along with Landon and Gaige, both fifteen years old, decided to use their own boats to help victims of the flooding. They transported families to and from their RV’s, helping to salvage whatever was left from the devastating effects of the flood.

“I saw the water all flooded up and stuff and I knew there were RV’s and stuff down there so I just went home and got my boat and called Landon and told him if you want to come help out and get these people’s stuff out of their campers,” said Gaige.

The three teenagers spent most of Saturday morning supporting flood victims in Vancleave, and they told WXXV they would be there as long as it took to help those in need.
