Local teams compete in Harrison County Volleyball Showcase
Volleyball season is here for many local student athletes on the Coast and a few local teams kicked it all off with a weekend tournament.
Harrison Central’s volleyball squad hosted an annual showcase with cross-town rivals West Harrison and D’Iberville.
The teams matched up against each other to sharpen their skills ahead of the regular season.
Harrison Central Volleyball Head Coach Marissa Hall says the scrimmages not only gives teams a glimpse at how they fare before the season, but they also bring more awareness and hype to the electrifying sport. “So, this is a great opportunity for us to see how we’re growing and growing’ together and at the end of the day bring more awareness to volleyball. Volley ball is a great sport for our young ladies, and by having this jamboree every year, we’re pulling more young ladies into the sport so that’s a great thing for our school and for the sport going forward.”
The official start of the volleyball season begins August 3rd for Harrison Central as they hit the road for a match with Pearl River Central.
